Chandra Puja (Anushthana)

The Moon is considered to be a softer planet in astrological parlance and like the Sun, the Moon also gets eclipsed by Rahu and Ketu on full Moon. In astrology, the Moon represents mind, emotions, satisfaction, smell, fluids and silver among other things. In medical astrology, the Moon governs watery diseases, common cold, cough and leucoria among diseases.

In astrology, the Moon rules the zodiac sign of Cancer. The sign of exaltation (uchchasth) of the Moon is Taurus and the sign of debilitation of the Moon is Scorpio.

According to our Astro Research it is not necessary that an exalted Moon will give benefic results and a debilitated Moon will give malefic results. The benefic or malefic nature of the Moon in a horoscope can be judged only after studying its position and degrees for a particular person. As for instance, a 2nd lord Moon exalted in the 12th house in Taurus for Gemini Ascendant (lagna) natives will give malefic results but other details like the minute position of the Moon as per degrees must also be taken into consideration before arriving at any conclusion.

As we have explained in our astrology research article " What is Mantra" Mantras can be classified under two broad categories: -

1. Tantrik Mantras ( Beeja Mantras)
2. Vedic Mantras

Therefore, chanting of Tantrik or Vedic Mantra of the concerned planet 1,25,000 times or its half, 62,500 times reduces the malefic effects of that planet. In Panchangas, this number of times for the chanting of mantra for the Moon is given as 11,000 when by chanting only 11,000 times the Mantra of the Moon nothing substantial can be achieved and it is 1,25,000 times chanting alone which can give proper results.

The Tantrik Mantra of the Moon: -

"Om Shraang Shreeng Shroung Sah Chandramase Namah"
